Good point. I think of this often. I’ve wondered why it seems so much easier for people (myself included) to be nice to a stranger during a 2 minute interaction than to the ones we dearly love. So how much of our “sweetness” is just a fake facade in the midst of an internal storm. How real are we? The more time I’ve spent reflecting on this- the deeper it goes into the soul and the genuine love and respect our families deserve.
I am guilty as charged and I may be the worst offender of all! It shouldn’t be easier to be short to the ones we are closest to, but I find myself doing exactly this. Maybe it’s because we know them so well and know they will love us regardless so we let that guard of nice down because we know we will be forgiven. Or are we trying to impress everyone else as to not be judged. I’ll dig into this. Thank you for bringing it up. I’m curious as to what others think as well.
No more excuses from me. I’m going to change this and be the best and most patient with those the closest to me.
Thanks for making the observation, and for being more aware. We all have our crazy and difficult days, but overall you are an amazing husband, and Dad. We love you! ❤️
You’re not the only one. I do it as well. Just think of Father was as short with us as we are with others. #YIKES
